This is what I meant when I said the floorboards had to have some work. There are holes where old radiators were, and holes where boards once were and holes where god knows what happened. So cutting out boards and cobbling them back into places. The end result - a beautiful wood floor! We also will be doing a kind of wood border around the entire floor. This is mostly because the gaps were so large once the walls were removed. The stain will all be the same though, so it shouldn't like that outrageous. Progress! PROGRESS! I'll put up more pics when the finish line is closer.
